Get the Santa hats out and the vocal chords warmed up: the City of Port Phillip will have its first ever Lakeside Carols event on Thursday 6 December in Albert Park.
Pack a picnic rug and head down to Lakeside Stadium (next to MSAC) to celebrate the festive season. The event will feature a variety of food stalls and bar facilities to purchase from on the night. As this is a licensed venue there is no BYO alcohol.
The gates open at 6pm, there will be lots of things to do and enjoy before the main concert kicks off at 7pm and it will feature two hours of singing, dancing and Christmas festivities including a very special visit for the kids from the big man in red himself – Santa!
Lakeside Carols is FREE with all members of the community welcome to attend.

Young guitarist Kathleen Halloran has put together an eclectic jazz trio driven by a fun and fierce approach to improvised music. Featuring the melodically rich guitar stylings of Kathleen Halloran, complemented by the exceptionally versatile and inspiring Darryn Farrugia on drums, and bassist Kim May’s supportive and interactive work in the lower registers. With influences ranging from Pat Metheney to Brad Mehldhau Trio and Maceo Parker, their sonic palate is a broad one, but accessible nonetheless.

Sultry songstress Phoebe Day returns to the Paris Cat stage this November, in celebration of Diva Month. Phoebe will be joined by her band of Melbourne’s finest musicians and is prepared to create an evening of smooth, emotive and passionate soul music.
Phoebe Day is her own flavour of silky smooth, jazz-infused soul. With an unmistakable vocal, the sultry tones of her music are a unique blend of old and new inspired by the greats of jazz, soul, RNB and blues. There's a quiet vulnerability in Phoebe's music. It transports the listener into her world, extending a warm invitation to look around and stay a while. Tasty, sophisticated melodies, soothing harmony and laid-back grooves complete her signature sound. Her debut EP ‘Place In Time’ was released late 2017 and received local and international praise.
After a successful debut, Phoebe moved to Melbourne in January 2018, eager to join the thriving music city. She has since graced Melbourne stages with her refined and elegant presence, winning over her audience with every performance. Phoebe was also selected to play the 2018 Live N Local Festival before releasing her new single, ‘Two Steps’ in September 2018.

Jazz Emperors preside over a soulful empire of jazz built on an infectious sense of humour and extended joy-infused improvisation. We’re talking five very fine musicians in a band that is always more than the sum of its parts. Simone Waddell is delighted to have her first ever show at The Paris Cat! After her sold out launch in Sydney of her jazz album, “My Romance” and the sold out launch of her original music album, "Surrender," she is gracing the stage of "The Basement" with an unforgettable night of contemporary jazz infused with groove. Musical themes of jazz, soul, funk, pop, and ballads will be woven through the show to create a powerful experience for all.
Simone has a reputation for playing with the finest musicians and this night is no exception. Such strong musicality on display, it will inspire you to no end.
Simone was the first Australian to receive a scholarship to one of the world's top music schools, Berklee, and was the first vocalist to ever complete the Research Masters Award at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Simone was also awarded $20,000 as the winner of the Nescafe Big Break. She has performed in Japan, USA, China, Europe and Australia, toured with Grammy nominated artist Taylor Dayne, been the Opening Act for one of her favourite jazz singers, Vince Jones, and has released four albums, one EP, and multiple singles. Her music videos have over half a million views online. Her recent work includes mentoring the globally recognised Watoto Children’s Choir in Uganda, numerous performances at Parliament House, and being an ambassador for Messenger Rescue to assist bringing freedom to those trapped in sex trafficking.
